Welcome to day 3 of the 2017 Summer Biannual Bibliothon, friends!
For today’s blog challenge, we’re going to write a synopsis! You’ll find the regular synopsis on the back of the book, the inside jacket flap, or on Goodreads. Now, that’s all fine and dandy, but we always get the story from the protagonist’s perspective.
-BUT WHAT IF-
the back of the book was written from the villain’s point of view?
Well. I’m glad you asked! Because this is exactly what our challenge is today!
To join in on the fun, simply:
- Choose a favorite book.
- Create a blog post sharing your villain’s short synopsis.
- Come back here and leave your post link in the comments.
Without further ado, my sample post:
A Darker Shade of Magic
by VE Schwab
Fulfilling his lifelong dream to restore London to greatness, Holland Vosjk ruled as second-in-command alongside his beloved king. His life had meaning, and his Antari magic – the most powerful in any world – was dedicated to his people. Then one day, another Antari traveled between the worlds with a letter for the king. The stranger’s message proved to be more than just a cordial hello between monarchs. His presence proved that the doors between worlds could be opened, which meant more power and more magic laid beyond them.
Bloodshed began as London’s magician’s sought this power. The merciless twins, Astrid and Athos Dane, murdered their way to the throne, and left nothing behind but torment for the city Holland loved.
Now, ten years later, with his world wasting away and his mind submitting to another’s will, Holland has no choice but to follow Athos Dane’s commands. The twins are on the brink of ruling the Antari messenger’s world, and once they do, Holland will finally be able to restore London to prosperity. Unfortunately, the messenger has grown into a powerful magician and keeps getting in Holland’s way.
Only one London can be restored. Only one Antari can walk away alive.
Now get back to reading!

I have never done anything like this before, so I’m not sure how well I did, but I created a Villain’s Synopsis for The Fault in our Stars by John Green.

I wasn’t sure if I could pull this off but when I thought about it, so many characters (even villain’s) have shades between good and evil and it probably all looks right to them. I re-wrote the synopsis to Ruin and Rising from the Darkling’s perspective.
